If you have recently purchased the Thames and Kosmos Elements of Science kit, the contents page of the manual may differ from the items than are included in the kit. Finding 4.5 V Batteries
Elements of Science kits created before 2007 require two 4.5-volt batteries for the experiments on electricity. If you are having trouble finding these batteries, you can order them online from BatteriesPlus.com.

Phenolphthalein Solution
While it may appear that your kit is missing the 'Phenolphthalein solution', please note that the 2nd and 3rd editions of this kit do not contain this chemical. If the contents page of your manual lists this chemical, then the manual included in your kit is the incorrect edition.
